Michelle A. Niesen, MS, PA-C
Co-Owner/Primary Clinician
Michelle Niesen is a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA) with several years of clinical experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1996, followed by a Master of Science as a Physician Assistant from The Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University in 1998. Michelle received the P.A. Departmental Thesis Award in 1998 with her Masters’ Thesis titled “Treating Obesity as a Chronic Medical Condition”. Michelle is board-certified in General Medicine and holds a special certification in Surgery.
After Graduate School, Michelle joined Prairie Clinic in her hometown of Sauk Prairie, working as a P.A. in Family Medicine. For over 12 years she enjoyed taking care of people in her primary care practice, focusing on preventive and urgent care, women’s health, pediatrics and dermatology. Because of her own chronic skin problems**, Michelle also began to specialize in treating difficult skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, dermatitis/eczema, allergies and skin growths.
In 2010, Michelle made a difficult decision to change her focus from Family Medicine to Dermatology. She joined a busy Aesthetic Dermatology clinic in Madison, WI and quickly became proficient in assessing and treating a variety of benign skin issues. She also discovered a passion for meticulous hands-on cosmetic dermatology procedures and often jokes that she inherited her skills from her mom who is an experienced quilter.
Michelle loved the rapidly developing technology used to safely treat conditions such as rosacea, acne and sun damage. She discovered that by using devices such as lasers and intense-pulsed light, she could achieve amazing results for her patients. Also, unlike prescription medications, there were very few side effects. Another advantage was that many devices stimulate the body’s own natural healing and repair process. Not only do people look better, but their skin is also healthier!
Michelle became aware that confidence and self-esteem thrived in people who were taking care of their skin, therefore, also began to incorporate a variety of anti-aging therapies into her practice. She discovered that these treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers and skin tightening devices continue to increase in popularity every year and tend to be preferred by most people compared to plastic surgery. Non-surgical treatments are also generally safe, well-tolerated, have minimal downtime and results can be more natural-looking.
Michelle believes continued learning, education and experience are crucial for providing the best patient care and outcomes. She has been performing aesthetic Botox and dermal filler injections since 2010 and has been perfecting her skills and techniques through advanced training and seminars throughout the country. The Clinic has also hosted several educational training’s led by renowned experts in Plastic Surgery/Aesthetic Medicine such as Dr. Yan Trokel (Y LIFT at The Pierre), Dr. Richard Swift (Richard Swift, M.D.,F.A.C.S.), both from New York City, and Dawn Sagrillo, APNP (ReFresh Aesthetic Center) from Milwaukee, WI.
