Moxi Laser Treatment
Moxi Laser by Sciton is a gentle, yet effective treatment which helps revitalize and renew skin. Rejuvenation Clinic of Sauk Prairie proudly serves the residents of Madison, Milwaukee, and the surrounding areas with this innovative non-ablative laser procedure that stimulates collagen production, reduces signs of aging and improves skin texture. At our clinic, you can experience remarkable results with minimal downtime compared to other laser treatments like Halo. In just a few sessions, you can achieve the smooth, youthful skin you desire.
How Moxi Works
Sciton has been one of the leading innovators in laser and light technology for many years. It’s no surprise that treatments such as BBL, MicroLaser Peel, Halo and now Moxi have been so popular.
Similar to other skin devices such as Microneedling, Moxi stimulates the body’s natural healing process. However, Moxi works by using fractionated laser energy to create micro-coagulation zones which the body then repairs, replacing damaged cells with fresh new ones. It also produces collagen and elastin which are responsible for creating luminous skin that looks younger and bounces back faster.
Moxi can be used on practically all areas of the body and anywhere there is skin damage and aging. It’s also very popular to have Moxi treatments prior to aging. We’re seeing many young adults choosing Moxi for “pre-juvenation” which is ground-breaking. People with all skin types can safely have Moxi laser treatments so this has been an exciting time for people of color or those with darker skin types who have had few options.
Moxi can be utilized as a stand-alone treatment or combined with other procedures for even better results. Popular combinations include BBL/Moxi, Moxi/MicroLaser Peel, and Moxi/Halo.
Before Treatment
The first step to Moxi treatment at Rejuvenation Clinic of Sauk Prairie is a consultation. During the consultation, we analyze your skin’s current condition, history, desires/goals and make sure this is the right treatment for you. We’ll create and customize a plan that will give you the best results. If Moxi is recommended for you, we encourage people to schedule their treatment keeping about 4-5 days of downtime in mind.
We’ll review your medical history and any medications you’re taking. You’ll be asked to stop some of your at-home products such as retinol or other active creams a week before. Our staff will complete a checklist with you to identify potential issues and prepare you for your treatment.
During Treatment
After numbing the skin to be treated for about 30 minutes, we remove the topical cream and quickly get started. The laser can feel warm and a little like a sparkler but is completely tolerable. The treatment is so fast that many people choose to add on another area the same day! (ex. face and neck) Once the procedure is complete, we gently massage a healing serum into the skin and use Avene Thermal Spray for moisture and comfort.
The skin will look red, like a mild sunburn, and patients can feel a slight stinging or heat sensation for a few hours. Once the heat dissipates, the treated areas will feel dry and tight. Despite some of these mild discomforts, most people return to their daily activities immediately following their treatment.
After Treatment
The skin will be mildly red, dry and rough in texture for about 5-7 days. You’ll be given a post-care kit which includes a gentle cleanser and moisturizer along with instructions on how to take care of your skin in the days following the treatment. Sun protection is crucial to ensure the best healing and results. Sunscreen can be started 48 hours after the procedure and should be applied liberally and every 2-3 hours if you’re outside.
Results can be seen within a week of the treatment with many people reporting a “glow” that they didn’t have before. This is from the light resurfacing effect of the Moxi. The tightening and collagen/elastin production occurs over several weeks.
Depending on your goals, it’s common for people to commit to 2-4 Moxi treatments their first year, especially in conditions such as melasma or acne scars. However, beautiful results and “pre-juvenation” does occur with even one treatment.
