Before Treatment

Prior to HALO treatment, your clinician will create a tailored Halo plan for you, understanding your goals and ability for downtime. You’ll need to make sure your skin is in healthy condition. Halo cannot be performed if you have any irritation, injuries, severe dryness or any compromise to the skin. As with all our lasers, we recommend avoiding direct sun or tanning beds 2-4 weeks before and 2-4 weeks after your treatment.

During Treatment

On the day of treatment, your skin will be cleansed, and a numbing cream will be applied and left to absorb to help make the procedure more comfortable. Pronox, a safe, effective, nitrous gas system is also available to use during your treatment which helps take the edge off. The effects of the gas dissipates within a few minutes of discontinuing the gas, allowing you to safely drive home.

The numbing cream will be removed after about an hour and your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to start the treatment. The clinician will place safety shields over your eyes to protect them and begin mapping the face with the Halo handpiece.

Halo takes about 30 minutes to treat the whole face, longer if other areas such as the neck or hands are added. The treatment feels like a hot, stinging sensation as the handpiece moves across the skin. Some areas can be more sensitive such as the cheekbones or jawline but overall it’s tolerable.

After Treatment

After the treatment, you’ll feel hot like a sunburn for about 2-3 hours. We like to spritz the skin with Avene Thermal Spring Water which brings down the heat and stinginess nicely. Ice packs or cool compresses can also be used if needed.

Depending on the depth of treatment, recovery and downtime can vary. Typically, though, you can expect your healing process to take five to seven days. Common effects are redness, swelling, sandpapery-texture, cracked pepper appearance and flaking.

A glowing complexion two weeks later is common, however, the biggest results occur one to four months after the treatment. People enjoy looking at their before and after’s several months after the treatment when visible improvement to the tone, texture, fine lines, pores, and skin tightening are evident.
